Preliminary work - Daytime lane closures will be permitted for miscellaneous preparatory work needed prior to March 1, 2002.  In addition, the contract allows stage construction on US 40 over I-70 to begin on January 2, 2002.

Eastbound lanes - March 1, 2002 ~ July 3, 2002. Traffic will be diverted to the westbound lanes utilizing median crossovers and temporary concrete barriers to separate traffic.  The section from US 40 to the Indiana State line will be on an accelerated schedule to assure opening of all four lanes within those limits prior to the Memorial Day holiday.

Westbound lanes - July 7, 2002 ~ October 31, 2002. Traffic will be diverted to the eastbound lanes utilizing median crossovers and temporary concrete barriers to separate traffic. The section from US 40 to the Indiana State line will be on an accelerated schedule to assure opening of all four lanes within those limits prior to the Labor Day holiday.
