Mainline reconstruction - March 1, 2003

Completion Date:

October 31, 2003 plus 10 working days

Preliminary work - This phase during the fall of 2002 entails patching and resurfacing the westbound lanes of I-70, raising the structures carrying TR-183, TR-198, CH-6, and CH-8 over I-70, and construction of median crossovers.  These efforts are all preparation for the actual reconstruction of I-70, which will begin on March 1, 2003.  At that time, traffic will be placed head to head in the westbound lanes while reconstruction of the eastbound lanes progresses.

2003 Reconstruction - The actual reconstruction of I-70 may not begin until March 1, 2003.  This will be accomplished using the following 2 stages:

Stage 1 Reconstruction -

Eastbound lanes of I-70 from just east of Martinsville eastward to 1 mile west of IL. Rt.1.

Stage 2 Reconstruction -

Westbound lanes of I-70 from just east of Martinsville eastward to 1 mile west of IL. Rt.1.

Note:  10 working days have been allotted after October 31, 2003 to complete miscellaneous items.
